Renew the graphic
-
Good morning,
I bought a graphics card about 3 years ago after giving you a beating in this thread:
Graphics card between 100 and 200 - Page 2 - HardLimit
A year later, I renewed the entire computer (except the graphics card, of course) including the tower. This was:
AMD FX 8350 BLACK EDITION 4GHZ SOCKET AM3+ 8 NUCLEOS
KINGSTON DIMM 8GB DDR3 1600MHZ PC12800 HYPERX BLU
SAMSUNG PRO SSD 120 GB 2,5'' SATA
SEAGATE BARRACUDA 2TB 3,5''/SATA III/7200RPM/64MB (ST2000DM001)
TACENS GELUS LITEIII+ SOCKET 775/1155/1156/1366/2011/AM2/AM3/AM3+/FM1
3GO FONT ALIMENTACIO ENERGY PS700SX 700W ATX
MSI 970A-G43 SOCKET AM3+ DDR3 ATX
INTEGRAL ADAPTADOR DE BAHIA SSD 2'5"-3'5"
ZALMAN Z9 USB 3.0 ATX SENSE FONTWell, everything seems to indicate that the graphics card, after 3 years, has become insufficient for me. Many games are running poorly. Therefore, I am thinking about renewing it.
The first question is. Is 3 years an acceptable lifespan?
And the second is obvious. Which graphics card should I put on that equipment? The colleagues have told me about the 970 series from NVidia. I didn't want to spend that much, but if it really worth it, I can think about it. Within that range, which model do you recommend? Is it compatible with my equipment?
Forgive the barrage of questions, but it's a considerable amount of money and I need to be sure.
Regards and thanks in advance.

Let's break it down.First you bought the HD6870, when you could already buy the next generation HD7800, so your graphics card is from the end of 2010, even though you bought it later. Let's say that it's not 3 years old, it's almost 5.
Although it's a good graphics card, it may not be enough for current games with higher demands, and the problems with stuttering in some games will have a lot to do with the great optimization of the most advertised games for nvidia, and the very improvable AMD drivers.
So by buying a GTX970 or a GTX960 of 4GB you can notice a big difference.
Salu2!

Thanks for the reply. I'm not very knowledgeable about these things so, do you recommend any particular model in that range?

Considering the price and acceptable qualities, I have two Gigabyte models:
Gigabyte GeForce GTX960 WINDFORCE 2X for 230€ + Shipping
Gigabyte GeForce GTX970 (GVN970IXOC4GD) for 335€ + Shipping and here
