I now also use the one from Microsoft, along with the precaution of not clicking on dubious links.

Thanks to all. I didn't know that windows already came with its own antivirus: I'll do as you and run malwarebytes every month and run. to navigate through strange sites I already have the mac :troll:

        Greetings!

P.S: and I was thinking about getting the panda :ugly:

That lightweight is not, or was not. I had it for a while around the time of the Pentium 4 and it slowed everything down.

It's the "advantage" of today's computers, that you have extra processor everywhere, except for very specific tasks. You will almost never notice that the computer is worse, no matter what antivirus you have.

Don't believe it, those who make the software also think so and they optimize less and less.

That depends a lot on the use. For heavy tasks (it doesn't have to be anything specific: modern games in general, rendering, video processing, etc; there are many areas in reality), with intensive use of disk, ram and CPU, the antivirus is a determining factor in terms of performance. If the PC is used to process text, browse, use lightweight programs and stuff like that, I agree with you.

I don't use antivirus on my Windows 7 and the thing is that I've never had problems, but that depends a lot on the use you're going to give it, if you're going to download things of dubious origin etc. My use is basically to play and browse sporadically.

Be careful, Windows 7 can be kept clean for a long time without antivirus (and this is from a Linux user). Although I can also tell you that in the hands of a dunce, even the best antivirus won't prevent you from having malware problems in general (this is from a geek who formats for dunces).

I agree with you on all this, and I am one of those who believe that the biggest computer virus is the common user, who does real barbarity. What I meant is that nowadays, except for playing and very specific professional uses, most users do not make the most of their equipment. Before some users ripped DVDs and CDs, nowadays you download them or watch/listen to them in streaming. Many users could change their computers for tablets for 95% of the tasks they perform, and if they don't it's because piracy is not as easy to "use" on a tablet.

Even in games, you just have to look at the processors of the PS4 and the XB1, which are netbook processors, with a processor from 2009-2010 you can run without problems in all games, more now with DX12... There is more and more power to spare for most applications, in my opinion, that's why I think people are more lax with the resource consumption of the antivirus, since they don't notice it as much as in the era of the P4s.

If it helps, I've been using MS essentials since it came out in 7 and now it's called defender and for the moment I think it's doing well or I haven't noticed XDD and well, common sense as always about where to enter but so far it seems to detect well.

I am another potential victim, I go through life without antivirus on Windows 7, I use it very controlled always, and at the same time I try to have the PC of downloads next to it secured at all risks (well, try to have spare parts in the attic just in case:troll:)

                      Greetings family! ?
