Presentation and OC FX 8350

Not long ago I bought a computer...I didn't want to spend that much...and when I realized...I thought that maybe I should have bought something else...but well...here we are..

I'll tell you..I have

CPU: FX 8350
Motherboard: Gigabyte 990FXA UD3 Rev 4
RAM: G.Skill RipjawsZ DDR3 2400 PC3-19200 16GB 4X4GB CL10 (16 GB total)
Cooling: Antec Kuhler H2O 650
Graphics: Sapphire R9 380 Nitro Dual-X OC 4GB (I put it just in case)

First of all, I have no idea about overclocking...but I know what many of the basic options are for, what I don't know is how to handle it..

Well, the thing is that I wanted to overclock in general...because there are games that even if they are basic like Team Fortress 2...on servers 32 people, it lags a bit..(it is supposed that it is because the game doesn't use all the cores, and the only way to solve it is by overclocking, but well, it's not a problem)

I would be interested in raising the frequencies a bit according to the voltage...etc...that is to say...I don't want to raise it wildly....because even if it may seem to be going well...the system is not running smoothly, I don't know if I make myself understood..

I have tried to activate the X.M.P...in Profile 1; but then when I apply the change it comes out as if it is wrong and I can't boot..
Anything that you explain to me, if you want me to upload pictures of the configuration that I am making...etc...don't hesitate to say it and I will do it...with this I want to learn a little and practice with my own computer..

First of all, Welcome to the Forum :sisi:

Second, the thing about solving the lag through OC, I would understand it if your computer were the server, but as I think that is not the case, and there is more than enough hardware, I don't think you will solve anything, but I suppose the idea is to try and learn.

Your micro is quite hot, so before thinking about touching voltages, make sure you have good cooling <:(

It gives you problems because those memos work at 1.65V for that speed… although if you put the profile you always need to manually apply the correct voltage that's why it won't start. (if everything is automatic there is no problem) Look in the motherboard bios for the voltage section and in DRAM, VRAM or something similar where you see 1.5V or AUTO just put 1.65V... it should go like silk. Regarding other aspects of OC it is difficult to advise you in general but read guides and ask your doubts. In any case that micro is not the most recommended for Gaming and doing OC is not going to improve it enough if the CPU is just right... I'm sorry to give you this info but it is like that.

Well, curiously I keep getting the error message that it doesn't boot…

I activated X.M.P in profile1.. then I go to the section to change the voltage of the "DRAM" which is in another menu... and effectively it was in "Auto" at 1.50 and I put it to 1.65, but for some reason I get the error message when I try to reboot with the changes applied...

I think I put the wrong RAM to be able to do this..

Well it seems like you bought mems that are not suitable for your board: http://es.gigabyte.com/products/page/mb/ga-990fxa-ud3rev_10/specs/

Support for DDR3 2000 (OC) / 1866/1600/1333/1066 MHz modules*For DDR3 1866 MHz (or higher) memory support, you must install an AMD AM3+ CPU first.

Your board supports certified memories up to 1866Mhz and 2000Mhz in a "special" way by adjusting memory and FSB dividers.

Moreover, those mems are optimized and have XMP profiles for Intel Z77 and Z87, so it is likely that even if they were slower, they would not work well with your board... or at least there is no guarantee.

In short, you have top mems that perform like value mems and you will only be able to squeeze them by spending hours manually adjusting timings since the XMP profile is useless to you.

And I am also sorry to tell you that in this case we cannot help you configure the timings... it is trial and error... if it starts up, test with Memtest for stability, adjust timings again and test again... ONEMORETIME, ONEMORETIME.... as I say, hours.

Also, on that motherboard, if you want to reach a memory speed of 1866mhz, you can only fill one bank per channel, that is, you can only put two memories and you have to put them in the slots indicated in the motherboard manual.

Do you have the multi-core rendering option in advanced graphics settings in Team Fortress 2? You have to activate it. I mention it because I play with the signature team at 1440p (2560*1440) and on 32-player servers, and with everything on high or very high, without filters, the game runs well with the signature team. It may have some dips at times of nearby explosions or things like that but it is perfectly playable. And my resolution requires much more power than Full HD. I also don't know if you play it with many filters in which case it is normal that it can lag.

On the other hand, it is not the best micro for OC as they tell you, but man it is not such a bad team, don't worry.
