[Help] Buy i5 or i7 to play

Hello everyone!!!

I'm going to buy a skylake processor for gaming and I'm hesitating between i5 6600k i7 6700 or i7 6700k.. the thing is that for gaming you usually go for an i5 but considering that they say that directx 12 takes advantage of the number of cores more… what do you think?

They have more threads, more cache, more speed, and more power.

If money is no object, the 6700K is the better option; otherwise, a 6600K with a little OC for gaming can match or surpass the 6700K, although these have a much better OC margin since Intel classifies them by consumption and then brands them.

In essence, what I mean is that if the number of threads really matters, a 5820K would be a much better option, but as of today, that's not the case... what counts are the Mhz and the performance per core, and that crown is currently held by the 4790K and the 6700K when compared at stock speeds with any other processor.

An i5 is true that if you increase the Mhz, you can get a lot of performance out of it, but as I mentioned, it's a lottery and they generally overclock less than the 6700K.
