Change the Movistar router?
-
Hello everyone
I have fiber optic from Movistar at my house, and I was completely fed up with the Wifi from the Movistar router so I decided to change it and I bought a TP-link AC750.
TP-Link AC750 Gigabit Dual Band Wireless Router
I know it's a normal router, but for now to improve the Wifi it's good enough, later I'll buy something better.
The problem I have is that I can't get the new router to work without the Movistar one.
With the fiber optic they installed 2, one white which is the one that transforms the fiber signal and one black which is the one that gives me the Wifi and to which I connect the computer. I thought that by replacing the black one with the tp_link it would work, but I can't get it to connect to the internet. However, if I connect the ethernet cable from the Movistar router to the TP-link it works perfectly. In the manual configuration of the tp-link if I connect it to the Movistar router it detects dynamic IP, but if I connect it to the Movistar fiber modem it detects static IP
Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

Well, a priori your new router should be configured with the same parameters as the one that the operator has set up for you.
The normal thing is to look at some guide but the important thing is that the new router can be configured since not all models allow it.
Here is a site where you can look: http://www.adslzone.net/forum94.html

Thanks Espinete
Now I'll take a look at the link you've given me, in theory I copied the information, first I manually enter the Movistar router, I saw the parameters of IP, subnet mask, etc. And then I put those same data to the new router, but nothing
Let's see if I'm lucky with the link
Thanks!

It turns out that my router is not compatible for me to replace it with the one from Movistar.
