Phew!! 71 degrees only!!! oh my god!! I thought I could handle more..
these micros had a safety device that would reset before they "overheated", right??
Anyway thanks for the input comrade!!!

Don't worry about the differences between cores, I myself have 8ºC between core 1 and core 3. But as Fassou rightly says, you should try to lower the temperature.

if a while ago.. years I mean… you don't touch it, you might have the thermal paste fried. or a lot of dirt on the heatsink. those temperatures on a 775 are not good at all. be careful.

As JuezDred rightly says, you have a clear temperature problem, I still have a Q9550, which only differs in that it goes to 2.83Ghz, and my temperatures at full performance do not exceed 55, so check the thermal paste as they say here, and if you are with the Stock Cooler, I would look into changing it, or a 212 Evo or a TX3. I must say that even with OC at 3.9Ghz, I have never exceeded 60ºC

              Thanks for the contributions comrades.
Yes, the cooler is the "series" one, meaning it's just barely enough... <:(

I'm going to do 2 things:

1º- Replace the thermal paste, and subject the micro to maximum load to check if the temperature of the cores decreases

2º- Once this is done, and if we don't notice a "notable" improvement, we'll move on to liquid cooling.

I'll keep posting the graphics of the results so that all the comrades can see the results.

You are going to change the thermal paste and at most you will improve 3º, that is with luck and during the first few days.
Put that processor back with the factory frequencies until you can put a decent cooler on it.

Increasing the speed of a micro with the stock cooler is something that should not be done.

Totally agree, it's reckless to overclock the micro with the stock cooler, although I must say that at 50% load temperatures do not exceed 55º.

But that's not an excuse, since I use formatFactory a lot to encode movies and as you know that is to "squeeze" the work of the microprocessor to the maximum and therefore 2 or 3 hours at maximum load will not be very good for the micro at that temperature.

In my "defense" I just want to say that I thought this type of micro could handle this temperature without any problem:wall::wall:

I will follow your advice and I will get to work soon.

                  I will post the results..

                  Thanks!!!

You don't need to go liquid to overclock it to 400MHz. If you go with the stock cooler it's a joke, put a 212X for 30 euros or a Raijintek Aidos for 20 euros if you don't have one with a 12 fan in the case and you'll have enough for that OC.

I take that into account, since the motherboard only allows you to increase x percentage, which means that the FSB, RAM, and multiplier increase, so before "toasting" the CPU, it's possible that the system "crashes" due to the RAM...
In liquid cooling, the most "affordable" is around 60 euros, if for half the price I have the issue resolved, I can invest the leftover money in adding more memory (for example)

If by RL of 60 € we mean a simple radiator AIO, unless we do not have space in the case, one for air with a similar price is much better, a Thermalright Macho X2, a Cryorig H5 or a Noctua U122P S2.

                          Hello everyone again.
I'm picking up where I left off a few days ago:

As I mentioned in a post above, the first step before changing the heatsink was to replace the thermal paste and clean the radiator and fan blades thoroughly.

The thermal paste is a Coolbox silver paste with a 3.17W/mk rating, which is definitely better than the white "goo" that comes with a $10 heatsink...

                          RESULT:
                          Well, nothing!
The temperatures are still the same.

Once we ruled that out, we moved on to choosing a heatsink capable of dissipating about 135w, which is what a Q9450 at 2.6Ghz overclocked to 3.052Ghz consumes.

I'll be attaching photos of the "toaster" soon.

dissipator and low quality paste, what do you want with that, or you spend on paste and dissipator or nothing to do

                            minimum something like:

Cooler Master Hyper 212X and artic silver 5 or mx2,

You don't need to buy pasta, you will get 2 degrees as soon as you do.

                                @ferelxyx:

low-quality heatsink and paste, what do you want with that, or you spend on paste and heatsink or nothing to do

+1 buy a good heatsink not too expensive and you will notice a good improvement. I had a Q6600 at 3200 and had better temperatures in summer with a decent heatsink (you don't have to spend 60€ for 25-30€ there are some very good things).

                                  Good afternoon to all.
Thanks to the advice of all of you, the problem has been solved.
In the end I bought an Artic Freezer 13, capable of dissipating 200W, starting from the base that my processor with overclocking is around 130W, there should not be a problem.
Said and done, just turning on the machine the first impression was good, reducing in vacuum a couple of degrees compared to the "factory" one of 95W.
The "fire" test was even better, with the micro at maximum load it did not exceed 56-57 degrees, thus lowering almost 15 degrees!!
Case closed, I just want to comment that the heatsink was around 30€, as you had commented, more than enough for this overclocking

                                  Thanks to all!!
