Adsl installation advice, direct line or place a repeater
-
Hello fellow forum members, I would like to know your opinions. I have received the modem router from pepephone, but the problem is that the telephone cable that goes from the telephone outlet to the router itself is several meters long and has to be stapled to the ceiling. I currently have a Linksys WRT54G wifi repeater with the ddwrt firmware placed where the pepephone router should be.
I want the connection to be stable and not to have any speed decrease or micro-cuts, as I will be downloading files and playing online.
Would you staple the cable (which is a bit of a hassle and would be visible) or would you place the repeater by connecting it to the pepephone one? -
Have you thought about PLC -
That depends on the speed of the connection. With the WRT54G you won't exceed 20Mbps net, that is if the distances are quite short (very few meters and no more than one wall) and you are using a less congested band.
If throughput is not a determining factor, the repeater option is plausible.
