Well, those who have been here for years will know that I'm more of an AMD than an Intel person. And although I know that in terms of power, Intel surpasses AMDs. There are little things to improve performance that I want to share with the forum and especially with all those who have AMD processors.

We all know that the AM2 AM2+ AM3 and Am3+ (I don't mention the previous ones because they are too old and the possible improvement is more critical.) that communicate with the chip-set through an HT whether it's 1.0 2.0 or the 3.0 the latter reserved for AM3 and AM3+ motherboards. Well. everyone knows that with BE processors, increasing the multiplier achieves very high OC values.

Well, with the reference equipment I have, I have come to realize that when a certain OC index is reached, performance begins to drop, instead of going up...
faster memories.... faster processor. but then when it comes down to it, nothing happens.

so I thought about looking at the differences between the 970 and 990fx chipsets....
more PCIe lines.. etc etc etc. then within the AMD website I found a curious fact. almost 10w more consumption of the 990fx compared to the 970. so I started investigating.

HT 3.0 if it's worth it. both comply with it..... but... the 970 only reaches 2400mhz and the 990fx to 2600mhz. not only that. but the equipment itself by default keeps it at 2000Mhz. both the HT and the chipset bus.
looking at that, I decided to increase the bus and the HT to 2400Mhz. which is the maximum reference of the 970 that my motherboard has and I win. at the same final frequency. 20 points more in the cinebench. and 6fps more. automatically I try to increase the processor to 3.8ghz and now the increase in performance is noticeable.

I'm waiting to get a 990FX to test at 2600mhz to see if the increase continues. because the bottleneck between the chipset and the processor in the six-core Phenom 2 and the six and eight-core FX is huge.

Sorry for the long text. I'll upload photos as soon as I can.

It's always good to know this data. I was always an AMD guy until Intel started to clearly win the game. Let's see if they ever give me reasons to go back.

If you have access to any equipment with fx. Try it out.
