EVGA ACX GTX1070 & 1080 and their burning VRMs
-
From across the pond, we hear news that owners of graphics cards from the EVGA brand who purchased the Classified versions of the GTX1070 and GTX1080 cards are experiencing sudden deaths of their cards, related to the overheating of the VRM modules, which apparently are not actively cooled in these versions.
Some owners have reported that their graphics cards have died after producing orange flames, or the usual toxic smoke before dying.

It is bloody yes, cobito already exposed it in his day and it really leaves EVGA in the dirt. I'm not going to make more blood, I already said what I had to say about it, but really both the memory and the VRM don't get all the love they should when it comes to putting a heatsink on a card. Five or six years ago it wouldn't matter much, but with the frequencies and wattages that are being worked with now, one would have to reconsider if the layout of both components on the PCB and their corresponding dissipation are really adequate. I'm referring to air coolers, not blocks.
