ja! I have an atom z520 with the fucking gma500 alias poulsbo. What they did was release a closed driver for linux that worked decently. But it's not that they gave support for a few months, it's that they didn't give support for two minutes. As soon as a new version of xorg came out with changes in the abi, the driver stopped working and never came out with a new version. A few years ago, a free driver made with reverse engineering came out, but it works regular, leaning towards bad. I think it's the only pc with less than 15 years that simply doesn't work on linux because it's not capable of booting xorg without crashing. -
I sold an Asrock board with Atom D2550 precisely because of the PowerVR graphics chip and the impossibility of making it work with Linux. I was surprised by this from Intel, but this clarifies for me where things were headed.

@palotes yes, the gma500 that was so disgustingly integrated, it didn't move anything, what a terrible thing, and what a reputation it gave to Intel...
