Svchost.exe consumes 200mb of ram
-
Hello, I have a system with Windows7 Professional 64bits with the Windows Update service "disabled"
and despite that when I log in to Windows the svchost.exe process immediately takes up 200mb of ram
and I have the "mania" that slows down my PC.I have tried running ccleaner...running nod32 (0 viruses)
Do you have any ideas what I can do or try?
Thanks

The most sensible thing is to find out which services use that process, in case you could disable any.
You can see them with ProcessExplorer. -
Now I am not with Windows, but in the task manager (which comes up with CTRL+ALT+DEL) you can see the SVCHOST.EXE process and if you right-click you can go to the specific process that hangs from it to see what it is about. SVCHOST.EXE is a Windows process that manages other sub-processes, and it is normal for there to be several with different consumptions. One of them, and in some circumstances the one that consumes the most RAM is WUAUCLT.EXE, which is simply the Windows Update service.
