Nvidia and its controversial partner program
-
The graphics card manufacturer has started a program that would prevent hardware manufacturers from advertising their products as gaming hardware if they are not aimed at using Nvidia GPUs.Read more...

These practices are very reminiscent of others that Intel and Microsoft have historically done. It makes you want to switch to the rival, but as in a greater or lesser extent, and according to their possibilities, everyone does it. For my part, I will buy what suits me best, of course, the rest are things that the affected companies will have to defend.

They are going to get a fine from the competition authorities that are going to be left shaking. It seems unbelievable that the lawyers who must give the go-ahead for this type of program have not rejected it.

Well, it seems that the first consequences of this are beginning to emerge. In this Reddit thread someone has posted a series of links explaining how various manufacturers are removing their gamer branding from AMD products.
To be more specific, Gigabyte has removed its AORUS branding from everything that is not Nvidia. From Asus, their "ASUS ROG Strix Radeon RX 580" has been renamed to "ASUS Radeon RX 580". And finally, it seems that in some stores like Amazon, AMD's MSI Gaming X products have been delisted.

So, they're going to get a big fine that will make them tremble. I don't understand how, with such a dominant position in performance, they dare to make this kind of program. You can understand Intel when the Pentium 4 disaster happened, but NVIDIA with such a dominant position is illogical.

It seems that Nvidia cancels its partners program. And it does so in a victimist tone that I think looks a bit ridiculous saying things like that "instead of fighting against misinformation, we have decided to end the program".
Here is the entry in the company's blog.

When one wants to impose brute force... And is left completely alone... That's what usually happens.
The big companies never saw it well...
Now it's time to rectify. They don't give me any pity
