Good evening, how are you? I leave you on this occasion a concern that is half software, half hardware. I have an Acer Aspire 5742Z that I was given as a gift without an HD. Today I managed to get a Toshiba MQ01ABF050 of 500GB (which had been removed from another working notebook to install an SSD) as a gift. When I installed it for the first time, it gave me the PXE-M0F and PXE-E61 error, which was an error that it did not recognize the disk and that it tried to boot from the network, I proceeded to remove the option from the BIOS and now it directly tells me that there is no disk... now the case is that in the BIOS it recognizes the disk (it is set as option No. 1 of boot), and when trying to install another OS from a pen drive it recognizes that there is an installation, but the partition is in GPT. Having said all this, and knowing that it is very likely that there is a functional operating system, can something be done so that my prehistoric notebook recognizes it?
Thank you very much for your time as always!

If I have understood you correctly, you want to use the OS that is already installed on that disk and boot into it? Most likely, due to the large difference in hardware, it won't boot (Windows 10 is very good at that aspect).

What you would have to find out first is what OS is installed, get a disk of the same OS and try to do a repair of the installation. You say that the disk is in GPT, in that case if I'm not mistaken it's either a Windows 8 or a Windows 10.

If the purpose is only to use the disk, then go for a new installation, I don't see where the problem is (if you want to put a Windows 7 or earlier you can always convert the disk to MBR with Diskpart).

Sure @krampak, I want to take advantage of the operating system, as it probably has Windows 10 installed. So I'll try to see if I can make a bootable USB drive with Windows 10 and repair the system. If it gets much more complicated... the much-loved and forgotten format will come ? Many thanks!
