What to do when the processor is not supported by the BIOS without updating?
-
Well, I'm considering changing platforms (I'm selling my old 4770K) and buying the following:
MSI X470 Gaming Plus
AMD Ryzen 7 3700X
2x8GB DDR4 3400 CL16 PATRIOTInitially, I was going to buy it from different stores, but the thing is that if I don't update the motherboard, it won't be compatible with the future Ryzen 3000. I was even thinking about getting an AMD Athlon am4 for that, and waiting for the 3000 to come out, but I've read on occasion that even if the CPU isn't supported by the BIOS, the system still boots up, which is at minimal speed and capabilities (in this case, for example: 8x800 without extras). How true is this?
I understand that the change from the 1000 series to the 2000 series is minor, but from the 2000 to the 3000 is much superior.
What do you do in these cases?
Thanks

You can use the Flash BIOS Button:
Editing: Now that I think about it, the Gaming B450 is compatible, the X470 I'm not sure

Editing2: At pcc they update it for you, if not you always have the boot kit although, that can take time.
You can request it by writing Boot kit Required in the RMA: https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/warranty-information/rma-form

@hayo In the specific case of AMD, you can request that they send you a compatible processor to update the UEFI, and then return it.
On the other hand, in stores like Aussar the UEFI update is free.
From this I deduce, and I emphasize that I do not know it firsthand, that if the motherboard does not recognize the processor, it will not configure the start to the necessary point to be able to update it.
