Microsoft stops trusting SSD manufacturers

Bitlocker has been relying on the hardware encryption offered by some SSDs to save CPU work. Since the KB4516071 update, that trust has vanished and now software encryption is used even when hardware is available. The reason is that some drives lie about the security level of their encryption.

Is the list of affected models not known? Even the brands. It seems that Windows will allow you to choose whether to use software or hardware encryption and that the responsibility will fall on the user.

This is a bit old now, it's surprising that they're releasing the patch now. This link talks about Crucial and Samsung drives.
