      Hello guys ?

For a few days now my PC refuses to start up on the first try. I have to wait a while pressing the power and reset buttons, until it reacts (about 30 or 40 seconds). I always turn off the power supply switch once the system turns off, so that there is no current flowing through the PC. Today I thought of turning on the power supply switch and not pressing the power button immediately as I usually do, I waited about 40 seconds and when I pressed the power button it started up normally.

This makes me wonder... Is my PC showing signs of problems with the motherboard or the power supply? It's as if it needed to warm up before turning on. Maybe indicative of problems with some capacitor?

Let's see if someone can give me a clue on where to look.

      Regards!

Without more information, I would bet on the source.

Take a look at the capacitors on the board to confirm that you don't have any bulging, and it wouldn't hurt to comment on the age and model of both components.

        Salu2!

I support the theory of the Honorable Mr. @Fassou ?

I have experienced the same problem with two absolutely identical sources (factory-made with a few hours difference) and with one of them exactly that happened: the equipment took a while to start up, as if it had to "charge" itself with electricity, while the other started up immediately, without any delay. Obviously one of the two was faulty.

          Best regards!

            Thanks for the replies ?!

Well, both components are quite old. The power supply is a Tacens, I can't remember the model, and the motherboard is an Asus P5W DH Deluxe. I would almost bet on the power supply, but I'll check the capacitors on the motherboard, just in case. I hope it's the power supply, as it's less "painful" if that's the only thing I need to change.

            Best regards!
