My MSI laptop doesn't detect the webcam
-
Hello, I have an MSI GL63 8RC laptop and I can't get the webcam to work, if I open the camera application it says the following
I have been looking at the official MSI website => drivers msi In principle I have them all installed... Then I have been looking in the device manager and I don't see anything that says "camera", I see that it says microphone but I don't see anything about camera
If you can think of anything I can do, I would be very grateful. Thanks

Hello, did it never work or is it a recent problem?
Can you try another operating system?
Best regards

Well, the truth is that I've had it for a year... I think I remember that the first thing I did when I installed win10 was run a script that "disables" cortana... the telemetry of windows... and I think I remember that the camera did work...
I'm checking the services but I don't see any related to the cam.
Could I put a virtualbox and try some linux distro, to rule out that it's hardware.
I try with ubuntu for example?
Why some live?Thanks

Found...FN+6 to activate/deactivate webcam and if not there is a msi application that can be used to act/des the webcam, bt and other devices.

You've been lucky.
Many people who were using their webcam with W7, found out when they switched to W10 that it no longer worked.
Others even got to see it work, and lost it after some major Update, despite buying it as compatible with the new OS.
Unless things changed in recent months, I know of cases of people who fell for the deals on some Logitech models, and found out the second case I mention.
In my case, an old Microsoft webcam, still works despite everything.
Regards!
