Help with the gtx 260

I have a GTX 260 graphics card, when I connect it to the PC it doesn't recognize it. I want to know if it's mandatory to connect it to the power supply for it to display video? I would like to know before making the investment in the power supply.

Indeed. If the power supply it requires is not connected, it will not work.

If you are talking about the gtx 260, if I remember correctly, it is from 2008 and has a 6+6 pin connector and recommends a 500w F.A.
I hope it is not for playing any current games.
