You have to be an imbecile to do something like that. They are not selling their products to people who do not know what they are buying. Nor are they products in which these scams are difficult to detect, there are test banks and the first thing someone does when buying is consult these test banks. The only way something like this can work is if 100% of the manufacturers agree so that in the future the consumer will suspect everyone. If there is one that does not go through the hoop they have already ruined their reputation.
There are examples in this world of companies that have taken years to recover their reputation for a mistake like putting cheap capacitors. They go and put bad chips on purpose. I have read that Intel has not entered this game. They will see what they do.
