Metaverse: a revolution or evolution

Hello dear friends,
I have searched for metaverse from the mobile and I have not found anything. I apologize if there is an open thread, but from my phone I have not seen anything.
As this ecosystem is presented, I launch this question to you:
With the current hardware, would it be possible to conceive applications that operate as the metaverse is defined?
From what I have read, it certainly seems like science fiction, with what we know.

IMHO unless we start putting chips in our heads, or we discover how to create a biological interface to connect us like in Matrix, I suppose we will continue with approximations in the form of increasingly sophisticated peripherals, which already cover all the senses with greater or lesser success.

In any case, those of us with a few grey hairs will remember the enormous capacity for suggestion that accompanied our powerful imagination when enjoying those polygonal games (they didn't even have textures), which we didn't hesitate to qualify as immersive, or even simulators.

And I don't think the current generations are capable of covering that distance on their own, if it's not accompanied by a great help in the form of a technological revolution, with the risk it will pose as an alternative to reality.

@Fassou Well I've seen the conglomerate of tech companies involved in the project and it seems like they are serious, but as you say there is also suggestion involved.
