AMD presents its RISC V core

MicroBlaze V is a softcore RISC V from AMD. The goal, like so many other IPs intended for an FPGA, is to offer a customizable 32-bit RISC V CPU that can be integrated into a design from its Vivado Design Suite.

Linux loses another architecture

Intel's failed 64-bit architecture, Itanium, has officially lost support in Linux. This change has saved just over 60,000 lines of code that supported a processor that appeared in 2001 and was last sold in 2021. The Itanic, as it was known, will continue to work in Linux 6.6 LTS probably until the end of this decade.

128 GB memory modules are presented

Micron has updated its roadmap while presenting 128 GB RDIMM DDR5 modules at 8000 MT/s. With the current pace at which the die density doubles every 3 years, they expect to achieve 128GB LPCAMM2 portable modules for 2025.
