Well, the son of a coworker's PC won't turn on and he thinks it's the FA
      The computer is this:
HP Pavilion Gaming TG01-1107ns Intel Core i7-10700F/16GB/1TB+512GB
      SSD/RTX 3060Ti.
A store told him that he has to install an HP FA because it's "special"
And they don't guarantee that it's the FA.
The question is, is that true or can he install another FA?
In case it's the MB, the RAM is also "special" or could he change the MB for an ASUS (just to name a brand)
      Best regards

I've looked around and it seems that yes, HP uses power supplies with their own connectors, which means that initially this prevents you from putting any power supply from another manufacturer.

However, there are people who have not been satisfied with this limitation and have made their own adaptations to put a power supply from another brand on an HP machine like these.
But everything is at the user's own risk, of course.

Regarding the motherboard, it is also special because it has those particular connectors, I don't know about the RAM.
The problem with changing the motherboard is that the case has a series of preconfigured holes on the back, instead of the classic rectangular hole where the "back plate" or I/O shield is placed.
So unless it is modified by cutting it, a motherboard from another manufacturer will not fit in the case of that HP.

        Regards

Mythical HP power supplies with proprietary connectors... on top of that, they are 400W cheap power supplies and they charge you €150 for the replacement ? the motherboard has that same proprietary connector, so a standard power supply won't work for you. The best thing you can do is try to find a second-hand one on ebay, because I can already tell you that new ones will charge you an arm and a leg.
Please send me the part number or take a picture of the power supply and we can be sure.

Edit: I've already looked it up on the HP Part Surfer. It has a Power Supply - 400W cDT23 FR Gold (P/N L69242-800). The cheapest one I found on ebay are €73 with shipping...

The cool thing about H.P is that it connects the F.A to the motherboard...
And from the motherboard come the connectors for the SSD and other things.
            To kill them.

              The million dollar question.
Does anyone know which connector needs to be bridged for the F.A to start and to check the output voltages?
              Regards

@Clipper The main colors of the sources are red (+5V), yellow (+12V) and black (GND-). The ATX connector also has +3.3V and negative voltages. I leave you the color code here... 631457c0-aec5-4803-b18b-65f77c8ccbca-imatge.png

The problem is that the H.P F.A cables are all black.

From what I've read around, normally the green and black wires of the P2 connector are bridged if it has one (similar to how it's done in traditional power supplies).
If it doesn't have one or has different colors, the purple and yellow wires are bridged on the P1 connector (again, if it has those colors).

I don't know if there are more variations regarding the models and versions of the power supplies/equipment, but in those cases it works.

                    Regards
