Security flaw in Intel platforms

A security flaw has been discovered in Intel platforms from the 6th to the 14th generation. The flaw is in Lenovo, AMI, Insyde, and Intel UEFIs. The flaw allows the BIOS to be modified, so an attack could leave the infected system even after a format.

New memory format

CUDIMM is a new memory format whose goal is to address the physical limitations that DIMM presents to get the most out of DDR5. In essence, it aims to be the desktop equivalent of CAMM2.

The latest kernel supports the S3 Trio64

The latest version of the Linux kernel (6.9.6) still has support for the S3 Trio64 graphics card through the s3fb driver. The Trio64 was released in 1995 and with the 2MB VRAM version, Xorg achieves a resolution of 1280x1024.

Mozilla starts using AI in Firefox

The Firefox team is experimenting with AI in the Nightly test version. The feature in question is to generate descriptive text for images in a PDF. And the philosophy is to do the entire process locally to ensure privacy.
