Defective Intel processors
For some time now, Intel has been investigating stability issues in its 13th and 14th generation CPUs. There are already several gaming studies that have produced firsthand statistics on this problem. For example, the people at Warframe say that 80% of failures occur in the K series of i7 and i9.
Thunderbird 128
After a great season as a secondary development and somewhat abandoned, the people at Thunderbird continue to show progress in their mail client. One of the most relevant changes in version 128 is the migration to Rust, a change that is transparent to the user, but that achieves safer and more maintainable code.
Core i3-1125G4
Someone has brought us a Core i3-1125G4. It is a 4-core Tiger Lake laptop with a TDP of 28W that reaches a quarter of a million points. It does not enter the top 100 but manages to stay in the middle of the ranking table of the architecture, where there is a large mass of models with scores very similar to this one.
60TB SSD drives
Solidigm, Western Digital and Samsung already have 60TB SSD drives with sequential read and write speeds of 7 and 2 Gbps respectively. Prices are around €7000.
Details about Zen 5
In this article they have done a detailed analysis of AMD's next-generation processors. In Zen 5, important improvements in temperatures are appreciated thanks to better probe location, something that helps to know the hot spots with greater precision. In essence, it improves performance by 15% compared to Zen 4 with a reduction in consumption.
Linux 6.10 available
Linux 6.10 comes with drm_panic, a new way to display kernel panics directly in DRM instead of in an FB console. It also comes with improvements in NTSync, although it is still not functional.
Nvidia bets on open source
Nvidia has published a press release in which they talk about their intention to move completely to the open source philosophy in their drivers. In addition, on the same page there are instructions on how to install their drivers on Linux.
