Motherboard and processor compatibility
-
I have an Asus M2N-VM DVI motherboard
http://www.asus.es/Motherboards/AMD_AM2/M2NVM_DVI/
these are the supported processors
http://www.asus.es/Motherboards/AMD_AM2/M2NVM_DVI/#CPUS
and I have this micro
AMD Processors for Desktops: AMD Athlonâ„¢ 64 Processor and AMD Sempronâ„¢ Processor
In the list of compatible processors there is a
Athlon 64 X2 5600+ (DO),1MB,rev.G2,65W,SocketAM2
but I'm not sure if it's mine, because it says it has 1MB of cache and mine according to AMD has 2MB.Let's see if someone can advise me.
Thanks in advance and greetings -
Do not worry about that detail, as all AM2 processors are compatible with that socket. Only a few motherboards have a limitation of the maximum voltage they can supply to the CPU, making the processors that consume the most (usually the most powerful ones) not compatible. But that is not your case, you could even use AM2+ processors
That 1MB of memory that you are concerned about is per core, which makes 2MB total.

If not only in the cache there is a difference in consumption, the processor that Asus indicates is 65W
Athlon 64 X2 5600+ (DO),1MB,rev.G2,65W,SocketAM2
and the one I have:
AMD Processors for Desktops: AMD Athlonâ„¢ 64 Processor and AMD Sempronâ„¢ Processor
I'm not very clear but I think it's more W.
The fact is that the board does not start.
Thank you for your interest -
Do you have BIOS 603 or higher?
