I mean, I think that maybe with a 2.0 I will go miles, without needing a 2.1 with a box that takes up space, I don't know, will something basic be enough? I want to have at least decent audio and I'm not very clear on what to put

jokes aside, if what you plan to play is MP3 with a laptop (because of the crappy sound card they have or with a PC with the crappy bla bla) and normal PC speakers it is the same wherever you put the speakers

for certain music, the subwoofer is dispensable if you plan to use a laptop as a player and do not plan to add an amplifier or power stage, you will have to use normal speakers (PC speakers). I would start with a pair of speakers placed next to the laptop that you find a bit tight (next to the door), so you buy another pair and place them next to the door. Depending on the outputs the laptop has, it will sound better or worse. Or if you find a 4.1 at a good price, you may finish earlier.
