Ubuntu 11.04 is very slow

Well, I wanted to ask you something, since I installed Ubuntu 11.04 on my computer, I don't know if I did something wrong, but it works a little slow compared to Windows, I have a dual core processor 2.6 ghz, 3 gb of ram, 1 gb of video, I think it shouldn't work slow, I mean I open anything and it takes time to open, I don't know why. Do you have the graphics card drivers installed? I think Unity already uses 3D, so you should check it out, otherwise search on Google to find out how to install the ATI/NVIDIA ones and see how it goes.

The way to install drivers in Linux has nothing to do with Windows. I don't know Ubuntu, but I'm sure that in its repositories you will find the proprietary drivers for your graphics card. If the distro has been more worked on, in its control panel there will be a section related to the graphics card and from there you can install the proprietary drivers.

By the way, if your graphics card is ATI, it is probably already working with 3d acceleration activated because for a long time there have been free drivers that for the desktop, have little to envy the proprietary ones.
