      THE PACKAGE

      EXTERIOR

Finished in coffee color, the cover that surrounds the keyboard is aluminum not plastic.

      KEYBOARD

Having a numeric keyboard is a plus.

      SUPERPI + INFO

The playback of videos in 1080p is very fluid, and although the quality of the screen leaves much to be desired with the battery they have excelled, it easily lasts 5 hours for browsing, and more than 3 hours for watching videos. The temperatures remain low, 60-62ºC even when you run 8 minutes with the SuperPi 16M.

      LINUX USERS
The laptop comes with Windows 7 Home Premium installed with little bloatware, most are useful programs like asus, realtek, etc... Office and antivirus in trial version and things like that.
I installed Linux Mint 11 in 10 minutes and it has detected everything perfectly except the touchpad (in ubuntu it also detects it badly). You configure it as "Logitech Mouse" and of course although you can use it it does not have the typical side scroll, or the two-finger one. To activate it open a terminal and execute:

sudo apt-get install dkms cd /usr/src sudo wget http://planet76.com/drivers/elantech/psmouse-elantech-v6.tar.bz2 sudo tar jxvf psmouse-elantech-v6.tar.bz2 sudo dkms add -m psmouse -v elantech-v6 sudo dkms build -m psmouse -v elantech-v6 sudo dkms install -m psmouse -v elantech-v6 sudo rmmod psmouse && sudo modprobe psmouse Now you can go to Menu > Preferences > Pointing Devices and configure it as you like.![](http://i51.tinypic.com/2vkcbpj.jpg) **+++** * Very good finish * Adjusted price * Excellent battery life * Very acceptable performance * Relatively light **–-** * Mediocre-passable screen * Poor sound quality

Good contribution, thank you very much for the information that this type of post gives a more real idea of the products, that in the catalog they are all very beautiful :risitas:

So at first glance, it seems that it stands out for the quality of the materials of the casing, right?
But it is very good for the price it has, if I may ask... wouldn't it be great with a dedicated graphics card?.:p

        Best regards

          Very good contribution

I am impressed by the tests on linux and the quality of the finish
ASUS is gaining points for me, for quite some time now, this only confirms it ?

Thanks and congratulations on the review :sisi:

I tested the screen by comparing it to my 1080p monitor playing

. Compared to my monitor, apart from reflecting, the colors are much more faded.

But come on, at this price range I didn't expect anything else.

              Thanks ?

EDIT: I added a linux screenshot.

                good contribution ;D

about the screen… keep in mind that it's a laptop, and since it's so thin, you have to make room somewhere

Good point about Linux, because at the first moment of installing any distro I always have the feeling of... "let's see what fails or doesn't recognize me", although Mint is pretty good at that.. all be said.

I tried the previous generation of these Asus and the truth is that they are very good, maybe the one I tried had more useless bloatware and Asus nonsense, but I really liked the laptop.

                  Best regards.

To be honest, I was also surprised by the small amount of bloatware it has, on my mother's Samsung I almost had a heart attack the first day when I saw that it had more than 80 programs installed by default.

I am very happy with the results it is giving me, I have no complaints. By the way, I have installed lef4dead2 and team fortress 2 and they run pretty well with things on low/medium. I thought they couldn't even start, that being said, it never even crossed my mind to use it for gaming, it's to see how far it goes.

                      Thanks ?
