Intel has decided to delay the launch of its new generation of Ivy Bridge processors until the second quarter of next year.

The company was expected to launch this new family of CPUs to the market by the end of the first quarter of 2012 but they have finally preferred to delay its arrival until April, although they have not explained the reason for this change of plans.

What has been leaked through a leak are the specifications of the chips that will arrive with the Ivy Bridge generation, manufactured with the 22 nanometer process instead of using the 32 nanometer one.

The Ivy Bridge will be the first chips to include the Tri-Gate 3D transistor. This technology promises to reduce energy consumption by 50% compared to the levels that the transistors currently used reach, while increasing performance by 37% and only increasing the price by 2%.

In addition, Intel has confirmed that this new range of processors will have support for the Thunderbolt port and USB 3.0.

The leaked information refers to a total of fourteen i5 models and four i7 models, all with four cores and HD 2500 or HD 4000 graphics compatible with DirectX 11. The most powerful model on the list is the Core i7-3770K, which reaches frequencies of 3.5 GHz (3.9 GHz in Turbo mode).
