Memory problems (LGA1156)
-
Post for JoseFR and anyone else with a similar problem. Let's get started.I have a post in the memory section where I have problems with this. It recognizes 8 but only uses 4. I see this in system properties and in the BIOS it only recognizes 4, and according to the motherboard specifications it accepts up to 16GB of RAM
If your motherboard has the FOXCONN socket, you already have the culprit :sisi:
In the first 1156 motherboards, they discovered a problem with the pressure of the FOXCONN sockets that slightly rotated the plastic platform on which the processor sits, leaving some pins too far from the contact, which under voltage conditions > 1.40V ended up burning the micro.
Regardless of this, under normal usage conditions, random failures in memory recognition occurred, with Windows displaying the typical 8GB messages (4GB available). And if you look at the boot, the smaller amount (e.g., 4GB) also appears as the amount recognized by the system, although in BIOS all modules may appear correctly detected (e.g., 8GB).
The solution to this problem starts by improving the position of the motherboard and heatsink, to achieve the correct pressure, either by leaving it out of the case, placing a backplate, or anything else you can think of.
After trying the above, and verifying that the motherboard works well in a certain position :
1º - Sell the motherboard, because they won't replace it for this issue.
2º - Look for a LOTES socket to put on your motherboard (something difficult to find and complex to implement).
3º - Setting aside morality, damage the motherboard in a way that passes the RMA and they give you another one.
I hope it helps you. Salu2!

It is true... I no longer remembered the Foxconn sockets...:nono:
The whole thing happened when I was looking for my 1156 motherboard and the manufacturers were starting to change the sockets for the ones with Lotes..the first thing I looked at when choosing the motherboard was that it did not have the Foxconn.
Well, I'm glad that JoseFR has found the culprit,...because the man was going crazy.Best regards

To begin, I advise you to take the board out of the case and lay it horizontally on its cardboard box, for example, since it is usually the position where it is the least curved, and to be patient, because you will have to restart the computer many, many times until you confirm that it works well every time.
Although the computer is in the correct position, the first start after changing position usually does not update the amount of memory, so you should do at least two starts with each change you make, and if you can see the amount of RAM detected before booting, it is better to disconnect the HDD to save time, and leave it to test when you think you have succeeded.
Goodbye! and good luck
PD: If you end up selling the LGA1156 micro and moving to LGA1155, no one would blame you :rollani:
