Mozilla renews its contract with Google for three years
-
A leak has revealed before Mozilla Foundation itself did, the renewal of the contract with Google, by which Firefox integrates it as the default provider.
The terms of the agreement have not been disclosed, but the fact is that it is an expected announcement; at the end of November the previous partnership contract came to an end, so a renewal was expected. Especially considering that more than 80% of Mozilla's revenue comes from Google.
Mozilla also has agreements with Amazon, eBay, Yahoo! and Bing, but none of them are as lucrative a source of income as those from Mountain View.
But despite the agreement, both companies are rivals in the browser market. Chrome recently surpassed Firefox in global usage, a victory that does not harm relations. Some analysts point out that Google aims to use Chrome to accelerate the web and improve it as a base for applications.
Be that as it may, Firefox and Chrome already account for 25% of the world market.
