Twitter releases the code for the TextSecure application
-
After acquiring Whisper Systems, a company specializing in messaging for Android, last November, Twitter has decided to release the source code of TextSecure, the star tool of that startup.
Basically, TextSecure is a messaging client for Android that offers encryption of all messages transmitted by users.
Now, Twitter is openly presenting the code of the tool with the objective that it can help developers in the elaboration of their applications.
Chris Aniszcxzyk, director of Open Source for Twitter, has confirmed that other applications of Whisper Systems will follow the same path and their code will be released, but he has clarified that first they must be sure that all legal aspects are respected and it is done in a way that can be useful for the community.
For the moment, users can already download the source code of TextSecure through the following link of their github repository.
