Juan María Nin, general director of la Caixa and Juan Antonio Zufiría, president of IBM Spain, Portugal, Greece and Israel
This partnership, which will be in effect for the next 10 years, will save the bank around 400 million euros in costs. Its global budget for the management of information technologies amounts to 2,000 million, divided equally between IBM and SILK.
The Blue Giant will be in charge of technological infrastructure services, application management and operations. It will also operate the data centers that la Caixa has in national territory.
Although IBM has been working with la Caixa for the last 50 years, Juan A. Zufiría, president of IBM Spain, Portugal, Greece and Israel, has pointed out that “Through this alliance we make available to la Caixa all our capacity, experience and talent to continue contributing to its growth plans”.
IBM will also collaborate with the la Caixa Innovation Center, which has as its main objectives the development of mobile banking, smarter banking, social networks and cloud computing, among other areas.
