Microsoft is going to launch a persistent virtual machine (VM) functionality in its Windows Azure that will accept Linux, SharePoint and SQL Server.
Thus, those users who want to run Linux or Windows machines in a persistent way (so that objects can be recovered later) on this platform will do so without any problem thanks to the launch planned by those from Redmond.
It is a Community Technology Preview test that will be launched during the spring of 2012. It is also announced that it will no longer be necessary to develop applications from scratch to move them to Azure.
Sources close to the matter say that SQL Server and SharePoint will also be able to run.
