Hello everyone! You see, I currently have the signature team, and for the past few months I have been gradually changing parts to update it (first I changed the graphics, and a month and a half later I changed the motherboard, CPU, and RAM)

The next thing that needs to be changed is the power supply and the hard drive (but since they are still very expensive at the moment, I will wait)

To the point, I currently have a Seasonic S12 550w, which works perfectly and without any complaints (very good quality) but perhaps I already feel it is a bit low in power for the future (maybe some Crossfire that I do not rule out when the HD 5850 is discontinued and its price drops)

I have seen these 2 candidates:

      • Seasonic P860W Platinium Modular 860W P860W Power Supply

      • OCZ ZX Series 1000W OCZ-ZX1000W Power Supply

As you can see, I have moved away from generic power supplies and mediocre brands, I think it is the most important component of the PC and the one in which you should invest as much as possible.

The doubt is, will I spend less (on electricity bills) with my current 550w power supply than with a 1000w one? Or will the expense be the same (let's say 400w) with my power supply as with a 1000w one?

I'm not very clear on this data, because if a 1000w power supply will double my electricity bill, I'm not very interested in it to be honest.

Of those 2 candidates, which one do you like more (knowing that Seasonic is a better brand but also more expensive and less watts)

      Thanks! Regards!

of those two I like the Seasonic more, although I think it's a bit excessive. The wattage is the maximum power it supports, a 1000w power supply with components that consume 50w will consume about 54-55w from the wall outlet.

usually power supplies are more efficient when your components use the power supply at 50% or so, that is, that if your components consume 300w with the one that has the lowest electricity bill you will get with a 600w power supply (considering that both are of identical quality). in any case, in high-end power supplies that difference is barely noticeable, it only changes 1 or 2% the consumption.
