New computer that I have in mind….
-
Good afternoon everyone, I currently have an E7200 with 4Gb of Ram and I think it's time to change my computer, the computer I have in mind is the following:
Asrock X79 Extreme4-M Motherboard 199 €
Intel Core i7-3820 3.60Ghz Box Socket 2011 275 €
Seagate Barracuda 7200.14 2TB SATA3 64MB Hard Drive 113 €
Sapphire Radeon HD 6570 Ultimate 1GB GDDR3 Graphics Card 58,95 €
Cooler Master Hyper 412S CPU Cooler Fan/Cooler 29 €
Fractal Define Mini 83 €
Corsair TX650 V2 650W Power Supply 88 €
G.Skill Ripjaws X DDR3 1333 PC3-10666 16GB 2x8GB CL9 DDR3 Memory (x2)Total: 936 €
The use I am going to give it (play very little Age of Empires and at most Call of Duty), what I would like is for it to be as silent as possible and with decent components, I won't do OC, I will use it mainly for virtualization (having for example 4 virtual machines: 2 Windows 2008 Server, a SAP, etc….) so 32 GB of RAM (I need a lot of RAM), then I have another doubt if I get a motherboard that supports up to 64 GB of RAM will the processor allow it????? I am also hesitating to buy a more expensive motherboard that allows 64 GB of RAM and now get 32 and then later another 32.......... (I know it's crazy to have so much RAM).........
Any suggestions to change any component (case, fan, hard drive)????
I give the SSD a bit discarded because of the price/GB issue, I think they are very good but very expensive for the space they give.....
I also thought about getting the Intel Core i7-3930K 3.2Ghz Box Socket 2011 micro but paying 542 € for a micro seems like too much of a whim to me, I prefer to keep my feet on the ground and get the Core i7-3820.
I am not in a hurry so I could also wait to see how the Ivy arrive, but as always between that they arrive and they don't arrive, at first a blow..... etc........
My total budget would be 1200 €....
Thank you very much for reading this message and goodbye.....

If you go to 2011 I think it would be fine to make that effort with the x6, or if you don't lose much with 32GB wait for Iby Bridge and take advantage of the integrated with an H77 motherboard, with 200€ in CPU and 100 in motherboard you have it. Anyway, if you really need that much RAM get the Asus with 8 slots, as long as you have Windows 64 bits there will be no problem. Do the calculations and look at comparisons to see if it pays off to go to 2011 with an x4 and 64GBs or even an x6, as a good geek I would say that performance/price the best is a 1155 22nm if you can get by with the integrated which will perform similar to the ATI you put (Savings: 50-100€ graphics, 200€ RAM, 150€ motherboard and 100-350€ CPU).
Check out the NZXT H2, it doesn't have the finishes of Fractal but it's cool looking for silence, comfort and cleanliness. It comes with an easy-to-remove bottom filter for the power supply and bottom fan (I would put the front-top one down) and incorporates a rehobus (5, 7 and 12v) to control the 3 standard fans (very quiet at 5v). If you needed more cooling you could add a 14 Silent Wings on top with good performance and maintaining a very low noise level. While you don't build it has a coating like the Fractal Define R3 which is a better option looking for more cooling and finishes but not so much looking mainly for silence.
Editing: You could mount the Thermalright HR-02, it costs a little more but it comes with a good fan and has very good performance so you will get very good sound. With this heatsink and the H2 fans at minimum you will have a tomb. For an Iby + integrated, like if you get the Cooler Master Silencio 450 (little cooling, little noise and little money, 56€).
PD: If you're going to get a dedicated one, managing a budget of more than 1,000€, it would be cool to stretch for the Sapphire 6850 now that it has dropped to 108€. At rest it is very quiet and under load, less in summer with OC, it has a fairly low noise level.
Editing2: I've done the calculations and more or less it reaches for everything without a graphics card and buying 16GB for now.

Although in June you have the Ivy Bridge that will surely come with new improvements for virtualization environments, you already have for sale boards with Z77 ChipSet to which you can put 32GB (4x8GB) and with a 2500k if you do not need too much power it serves you perfectly.
The LGA2011 platform although it is superior in performance, if you are thinking of putting the 64GB the extra cost is excessive (perhaps waiting for the release of their LGA1155 brothers).
Salu2!

To me it seems fine, I think it is appropriate that you use LGA2011, as a purchase today it would be fine except for the motherboard that needing a lot of RAM I would look for one with 8 slots, that would allow you to assemble now 32GB and be able to expand to 64 if you need it without costing you so much money. Perhaps I would go for a Gigabyte UD5 for example.
If you can wait I think that towards the end of the year the Ivy for LGA2011 come out and maybe some new chipset with some addition to the X79... but we also wouldn't have that much difference.

Thank you very much for your advice, for now I will wait for the Ivy release and then I will see what I do by looking at comparisons on the internet, and if the Ivy doesn't convince me I think I will make the effort to go for the i7-3930K with 32 GB of RAM, with a motherboard that allows 64 GB just in case.....
Best regards and thank you very much......

Let me know what you think of this PC, I'm going to use it for programming, operating system virtualization, play as much as Fallout and ages of empire, what you want is for it to be silent "in case you think it's better to change some component", in the end I ruled out the 2011 platform I think it's too much money for how the economy is...I'm not going to do oc....
Intel Core i7-3770 3.4Ghz Box Socket 1155
Gigabyte GA-Z68MA-D2H-B3
Scythe Ninja 3 Rev.B
G.Skill RipjawsZ DDR3 1600 PC3-12800 32GB 4x8GB CL10
Crucial M4 128GB SSD SATA3
NZXT H2 Classic Series Black
Corsair TX650 V2 650W 48887
LG GH24NS90 DVD Burner 24X Black OEM
Assembly and testing of internal PC componentsTotal 969.20 €
I would complete it with a 2TB Green WD drive that I bought recently.....
Do you advise me any change??????
I had set my sights on the 2011 platform but the x6 micro is already 527 € + 225 € for a decent motherboard + 200 € for the ram just with that it costs me the same.........
Thanks for reading this message and goodbye.....
