USB external hard drive keeps disconnecting

Hello,

I've been having a pretty annoying problem all day and I can't figure out the solution, so I thought maybe you guys could help.

I have an external enclosure with two hard drives connected to my laptop through a self-powered USB hub. Before, I had it connected directly to the laptop's USB port and it never gave me any problems.

The thing is, since I connected it to the hub, it keeps disconnecting and reconnecting (every 5 or 10 minutes) and it doesn't seem to matter what operation I'm doing with them. Before connecting it to the hub, it never gave me any problems.

I connected another external hard drive to another port on the hub to see if it was having the same problem, and it's not having any problems.

The hub has 4 ports and I have them set up like this:

• printer
• single self-powered hard drive
• enclosure with two self-powered hard drives
• 4-port hub without power: keyboard, iphone cable (not connected to iphone), nokia cable (not connected to phone), USB cable for other devices (not connected).

I've configured the power saving settings so that it never turns off the hard drives or USB devices.

I've also gone into device manager and unchecked the box that allows Windows to disconnect USB devices.

I think I've said pretty much everything.

Well, I have done more tests:

• changed the usb cable for two others different.
• I have tested the disks in another box and they do not disconnect.
• I have changed the port box in the usb hub
• I have tried to put the box with only one disk

None of them gives me a solution.
