[Duda] Change of graphics (offers): 560TI, 570, 7870
-
Hello.
I didn't plan to change my graphics card until February or so in 2013 (with the release of the new Tomb Raider, to play it in good conditions).
But I've been presented with 3 opportunities to get some graphics cards a bit cheaper than in store; some of these have been returned by customers to the store, with 6 months warranty.
And I would like people who understand to tell me which one is worth it in terms of quality/price, or if it would be better to wait until February. For now, I manage with the one I have (at 1920x1200 with high profile, about 40-45 fps in Dirt3, 35-40 in Trine2, etc; it's a 3870 with an accelero S1 and some OC).
Well, the 3 opportunities are these:- 112 euros: Asus ENGTX560 Ti DirectCU II TOP 1GB-GDDR5, 2xDVI
- 160 euros: Asus GTX570 (stock cooler)
- 176 euros: Asus HD7870 DirectCU II 2G DDR5, DVI, HDMI, 2xDP
One thing, this time I'm going to leave it as is, I won't spend anything on a cooler; that's why I try to get one that already has a good one stock.
I've looked at many benchmarks.
For example: HardWare Analysis: Content
There I see strange things, like a 7870 losing by a lot to the 560ti, while the DC2 TOP has a big difference… I don't understand it, if it's a little bit of overclocking at least.I'm also worried about CUDA, for physics, I don't know if with the 7870 not having any physics, what I gain in graphics power I lose in fps for not having anything for physics.
And about the 570, I'm worried about the temperature and noise, because it has the stock cooler, that one that's all closed with a turbine-type fan. Also I've seen that in some stores, they've lowered the 7850 and 7870 a lot (like pccomp) and they're at 215 or so new with 2 years warranty; and I don't know if there's much difference with the DC2 or if they're the same.
Well, any advice is appreciated, because I have no idea what to do, whether to get one, not get any and wait...
Regards and thanks.
My equipment: Corsair TX850W, Gigabyte UD5-Ex, i7 920 @ 3.2, 18GB DDR3 1800MHz

7850 in pccomponentes at 175€. Crazy prices :ugly:
-
Well, just beware, because the 7850 OC with 2Gb is at 199€, it's not a small price either :troll:
-
Half joke half messed up, right? xD
-
what a bunch of SLIs crossfires are going to come out of this branch :troll:
-
Well, as I was taking my time to decide (I've been thinking about it for a few days now), they let me have the 560 Ti for 99 euros with shipping. The rest is still at the same price, and I'm still thinking about it.
For now, after reading the comments, what I'm sure about is that I rule out the 570.
So it's either the 560 Ti TOP for 99 euros, or the 7870 for 176 euros.
I'm a bit scared about the issue of the gigabyte of ram difference, at 1920x1080 I'm not sure if having only 1 GB will be enough.
Thanks to everyone for the comments.
Best regards. -
I take it for granted that the 560 is second-hand, right?
That low price may be because it's very worn (burned) after an extreme OC
Regards -
No bueno, not second-hand; it's supposed to have less than 15 days of use, and one of these stores sells it, which gets the returned material within the return period in shopping centers (I buy a lot there, many times they even come with the price of Corte Inglés and MediaMarkt xD), it's tested, with its box and accessories, and they give 6 months warranty. And 15 days to return it. -
GeForce GTX 560 Ti vs Radeon HD 7870 – Performance Comparison Benchmarks @ Hardware Compare
according to this I would get the ati -
Well, it may fall short of RAM, but I think the price difference is too much, I would go for the Nvidia.
-
The 560GTX is priced very temptingly. If money is a problem I would keep it, I would throw with it for a while and in the future I would sell it to buy something more powerful.
If money is not a problem, the Ati.
THE 560 GTX can move games to Full HD in high details. If you want to apply filters and so on depending on the game it may run out of memory, but for 90€ :troll:
To me for about 200€ the 7850-7870 seem like good options but the 560 GTX you get for 90… it's something to think about.
-
the thing is, money is money, and the truth is that a 560 at that price... is very tempting. I am currently bidding on a 560 and the joke is at 112 (mine for now)
regards -
Well yes, certainly the 560 Ti for 99 is very tempting… and from there the doubts xD.
By the way the exact models are these:
http://www.asus.es/Graphics_Cards/AMD_Series/HD7870DC22GD5/
http://www.asus.es/Graphics_Cards/NVIDIA_Series/ENGTX560_Ti_DCII_TOP2DI1GD5/My initial intention months ago was to buy a new graphics card now in September for the release of the new tomb raider, but since it has been delayed until next year, I no longer have the rush. What I do want is for that game to run very well at 1920x1200; in fact if I buy the graphics card it is mainly for him.
By the way, is there any modern graphics card that has any pin to output s-video / v.compuesto?
Greetings and thanks to all.

You have VGA to composite and DVI to VGA adapters, you should bring one of your own graphics.
-
hello well nothing …. if you don't end up getting the 560 send me the link ;D because the one I was bidding on I lost at the last second ( 151 bucks :wall:)
regards -
hello nothing really …. if you finally don't get the 560 send me the link ;D because I lost the one I was bidding on in the last second (151 euros :wall:)
regardsI think I'm going to get it.
I can fix the fact that you lost the auction, I'll send you a PM.Now I have to look into the video output (tv out) via composite video, to see if it's possible to get it from one of the 560's pins; because I'm very interested in that and if not I'll have to have two graphics cards installed or something like that.
regards
-
Well.
Thanks to all for the comments.
In the end I got the 560 Ti, for 98 euros (it has even gone down another euro xD).
I got it, because in the best case scenario, from what you have told me about it, I think it will be enough for a few years.
In the worst case, it will be enough for a year or a year and a half; but with what it costs me I think I could sell it for the same and then buy another of the 88xx that is out at the moment or whatever.Regards.
-
Bueno.
Saludos.
Creo que has hecho bien. Esa gráfica se vende mínimo a unos 140€ a día de hoy así que si la vendieses en un año… probablemente la vendas a un precio similar al que la has comprado, y la habrías usado un año por la cara sin perder dinero ;D
