I am between buying an i3 3250 3.5ghz and an i5 3570K 3.4ghz, which I will mount with an ASUS B75M-A motherboard and HYPERX BLUE CL9 memory. Good combination?

I think I will install a COOLER MASTER HYPER 212 EVO heatsink, which I have read is quite good for how economical it is. Do you recommend it?

A doubt about overclocking: can't this i3 be overclocked at all? Or could I at least go up to 3700mhz in some way? The i5, on the other hand, is a very good micro for overclocking, isn't it? Could I put it at 4000mhz?

        How many questions <:(

The i3 you say has 2 cores, while the i5 has 4 and is a special version for overclocking, I don't see where you can have doubts.

        Asus motherboards :hangover:, no thanks.

        Regards!

          @Elaphe:

I'm torn between buying an i3 3250 3.5ghz and an i5 3570K 3.4ghz, which I'll mount with an ASUS B75M-A motherboard and HYPERX BLUE CL9 memory. Is this a good combination?

I think I'm going to install a COOLER MASTER HYPER 212 EVO heatsink, which I've read is quite good for how cheap it is. Do you recommend it?

A question about overclocking: can't this i3 be overclocked at all? Or could I at least go up to 3700mhz somehow? The i5, on the other hand, is a very good micro for overclocking, right? Could I set it to 4000mhz?

If you want to do OC I think that motherboard isn't suitable for you, I'm not sure but I think the ones that allow OC are the z77 motherboards, the 3570K could be overclocked by increasing the multiplier, but I think Intel only allows this on z77, p67 or z68 motherboards. If you want to do OC the best option is the 3570k and a cheap motherboard with z77

something like this or you can look at other options from other brands

          ASRock Z77 Extreme4 90-MXGKX0-A0UAYZ Motherboard
          ASRock Z77 Pro3 90-MXGM00-A0UAYZ Motherboard
          Gigabyte GA-Z68AP-D3 GA-Z68AP-D3 Motherboard

          http://www.pccomponentes.com/msi_z77a_g43.html

But a system that will last a long time is more advisable to go for a 3570k or a 4670k, especially if the system is for gaming, an i5 with 4 cores is recommended, and if it's a k model, even better because it can be overclocked more.

          regards

Oh boy. I already ordered the motherboard. I thought Asus was good. So I won't be able to upgrade the i5 at all?

Since I placed the order today, I'm still in time to change the motherboard model. So you recommend this Gigabyte GA-Z68AP-D3 better?

I don't want to spend more than 70 or 80 € on the motherboard.

So buy an ASRock Z77 Pro3 or at least an ASRock Z77 Pro4-M

I don't know if for that price you'll find a decent OC board, that's if you get the i5 3570K, the fact of having the multi unlocked helps a lot in boards that are not very overclocking, a good companion for the i5 would be a board with the Z77 chipset...

I don't know why people say that Asus motherboards are bad, when in my opinion they are some of the best on the market, that is, in terms of quality-price ratio, ASRock are probably the best.
But I would love to have a Rampage in my rig… anyway, it seems to be a matter of personal taste.

Well, leaving the Asus topic aside, I would clearly recommend the 3570K with a Z77 motherboard, and for under 80 euros I would recommend the ASRock Z77 Pro4, although if you are planning to do OC you should stretch a bit and go for an extreme one, the investment is worth it in every way.
