Hello, I recently upgraded my computer's RAM from 6 GB (3x2) to 12 GB (6x2):

I had problems installing all six modules. To get the computer to recognize the twelve gigabytes (6x2), I had to try everything, from installing module by module, mixing the kits (they are identical), not mixing them, and even doing a CMOS reset. But once the computer recognized the twelve gigabytes (after trying everything), I suffered a brutal drop in performance. It started up very slowly and then was extremely slow once in Windows. And the CPU was running with an extremely high performance load.

I tried the kits separately and both worked perfectly, so I don't know where the problem is coming from.

      The computer is:

      Motherboard: Sapphire Pure Black X58
      CPU: Intel I7 920 [Rev: D0]
      RAM: G Skill F3- 16000 CL9T-6GB TD, DDR3- 2000 CL9-9-9-24 1.6V
GPU: MSi 560 Ti 448 Cores
      Power supply: Seasonic 860 Platinum

      Any suggestions?

      Regards!

has looked to see if there is any BIOS update later than the one you have installed?

hello, try to clean the sockets that you were not using well, because they may have dirt and fail you, with a brush and a little alcohol and then let it dry for a while

          regards

Give the memory a few more tenths of voltage, and check in the manual if your new configuration imposes any restrictions (maximum speed, module size, etc...).
            Salu2!

I've tried with another new board and it's exactly the same, when I lifted the micro I checked the pins in case any of them weren't making good contact, and nothing, they're in perfect condition.

The board's page is this in case it helps you: http://www.sapphiretech.com/presentation/product/product_index.aspx?psn=0001&pid=1045&lid=1#

I noticed that on the previous page there is a download area with several files, and there are a couple of things for the BIOS, could they be useful?

I've read the manual, and it doesn't say anything about restrictions when mounting the six sockets. And the board accepts up to 24 Gb maximum.

Could it be the micro that's damaged?, let's rule it out...

Thank you very much for the help.

PD: I've increased the voltage of the memories to 1.65v and I also put some extra in the VTT up to 1.35v and nothing, it's still the same.

                @packosoft:

has looked to see if there is any BIOS update later than the one you have installed?

That has been the solution packosoft, after so many tests I ended up flashing the board to the new version of the BIOS that was available on the manufacturer's page and the problem is solved.

Thank you very much for the help.
