Nvidia driver problem on a Linux laptop
-
Hello, I have a laptop, specifically, an Acer Aspire 5755G, the i5 model.
It has an Nvidia Geforte GT 630M.
The OS is Ubuntu 13.10
The same thing happens in the Unity, gnome clasic, gnome shell, gnome3, kde and xfce environments, always without compz.I downloaded the drivers from the nvidai page, and when I try to install them, they simply won't let me, they tell me to close the X server and try again later, but I don't know how to close X if it starts, at least not that I know of.
The other option is to install it directly from a program that detects the drivers you're missing, similar to driver genius on win, but if it installs, when you restart, in X you can only see the mouse and the rest is black.
After that, I uninstalled the drivers from the console, and everything worked as before. -
What is the problem?

I can't install the driver, or when I install it nothing is seen, I think it's clear

No, it's not clear. The driver installation you do is supposed to be the solution you apply to some problem you have with the graphics card, but you do not specify what the problem is that causes the need to install the driver.
As far as I know, if you have activated the proprietary software repositories when installing Ubuntu, the drivers should have been installed automatically.
