uTorrent making bitcoins

After the latest update of the popular BitTorrent (P2P) network client, many users detected the presence of additional software from the company Epic Scale, whose purpose is to take advantage of the idle times of our processor for certain purposes, the controversy comes from the possible use of this distributed power to create bitcoins.

Keep in mind that these applications that are maintained by advertising and that have already reached a certain level of stability (uTorrent, KMPlayer, the "defunct" Pando, etc.), when they announce a new version, in 90% of cases it is to show the new advertisers, keeping their performance unchanged.

What a scam. Doing that on other people's machines can end up being a considerable extra energy expense. They are not only taking advantage of the hardware but are also making the user mess around with the most expensive part of generating bitcoins: energy.

I have been using Transmission for a while and that 100% sure thing doesn't do these dirty tricks. It is lightweight and can be managed remotely from a graphical interface with a negligible bandwidth consumption.

What a lucky I've had! As I'm very crazy, I don't update anything other than Windows, so the new version of uTorrent won't catch me. Besides, I open it very sporadically for a specific purpose at that moment

I have been using transmission for a while and lately I have left it to the Synology application.

I like 90% use it on a private tracker and they require version 2.0.x so I don't even bother in this case the old versions are the best and I foxx them a fish.
