Reinstall W10 without "bloatware"
-
This is something that came out a few months ago, but I think it's worth mentioning here.
When you buy a laptop with Windows installed, it usually comes with various applications, mostly trial versions, (bloatware) that may or may not be useful, but they will reappear if you need to restore the device to its factory settings.
However, the update to the Windows 10 Anniversary Update (AU) includes an interesting feature that will allow us to perform that restoration without having to reinstall the rest of the junk, while preserving our previous data.Of course, backing up your most important data is recommended.
The procedure is as follows (copy-paste from WccFTech, summarized to the essentials):
- Download Refresh Windows Tool (*).
- Once downloaded, run the application and accept Microsoft's terms and conditions.
- When you are on the "‘Give your PC a fresh start" screen, select the "Keep personal files" option and click "Next".
Once finished, you should have a clean installation with your brand new (ahem) W10 and your personal files intact, but without the "bloatware" included with your laptop.
