I don't understand how the BE-7 raid works

En el manual te pone que primero instales el software en windows¿?¿?¿?
Pero entonces primero hemos de instalar windows en un disco duro normal???
No podemos crear el raid antes de instalar windows, y despues instalar el S.O.??' Asi windows iria rápido.
¿No se puede poner el raid en el sitio donde reside el SO en estas placas?
Por cierto, lleva la controladora highpoint 372.
