Problem with PCI SATA controller

he comprado una controladora sata pci y 2 hd maxtor sata de 120 gb, todo para ponerlos en raid 0.
Mi placa es una Asus P4S8X-X. Si arranco unicamnt con los 2 sata conectados a la controladora (sin ningun hd ni fdd en ide) suena un pitido largo y no arranca. Se puede arrancar con esta placa desde la controladora sin ningun hdd a parte??
A ver si alguien me puede hechar una mano porfavor.
