Yo iría a por un 4400+. De todas maneras, una buena opción puede ser comprar un opteron 2xx dual core, con la placa a juego, así tendrás la posibilidad de comprarte otro procesador igual en el futuro, si el sistema se te queda corto. Además, no estás tan limitado en cuanto a cantidad de RAM.

Te puedo decir que con un 4400 no tendrás ningún tipo de problemas en ese tipo de trabajos. Mi anterior procesador era un X2 3800 como el tuyo y he notado muuucho la diferencia.
Que conste que un poquito de OC también se nota y mucho, como en cualquier equipo.
Yo trabajo con Premiere, con Maya, Lightscape, Allplan, 3D Max, C4D y Photoshop casi todos los días y me he ahorrado mucho tiempo con el 4400.
