En realidad dá igual que tipo de conexión tengas, se cierra cuando le dá la real gana, tanto si sólo hablas con los colegas o si te envian o estás mandando algún archivo

Mi consejo es que mientras pudas ponerle a tu PC un modem serie ni lo dudes, los USB a parte de no aportar nada comen demasiada CPU y los serie ni te enteras.

Pues sí, en puerto serie mejor que mejor y así aparte de liberar la Cpu de procesos, si quieres tener experienci@s en Linux u otros sistemas operativos te ahorrarás más de un quebradero de cabeza.
