Question about GPO in Server 2008
-
Hello! I want to disable a registry key (specifically disable Java updates) on about 50 machines with Windows XP 32 bit.
I have a Server 2008 R2 and I have tried the following:
In Active Directory I create a group where I put the machines to which I will apply the GPO (for now only 1 for testing). Then for that group I create a GPO in two possible ways:
-
Create a vbs script which works perfectly locally on a test machine. I put it on the server as a startup script. But it doesn't work.
-
I modify the registry key directly in the GPO. It also doesn't work.
I haven't touched anything about permissions, everything is by default. Maybe it's coming from there, but I have no idea.
Any ideas? I know it could be a thousand things, but I would appreciate any help.
Thanks!
