Possible update of my PC

No se si ha llegado el momento de hacer una buena actualización de mi PC principal. Tiene algo más de tres años.

La configuración actual es esta:

CPU: Core 2 Duo E8200
Placa base: ASUS P5B P965 iCH8
Memoria RAM: 3 GB DDR2 800
Tarjeta gráfica: ASUS GTX 550 Ti DirectCU
F.A: Corsair VX 550

Había pensado en esa nueva configuración, puesto que este ordenador lo uso básicamente para Gaming:

CPU: Core i5 2400
Placa Base: ASUS P8P67 (B3)
Memoria RAM: Kingston 4 GB DD3 1600 HyperX (aunque puede que sean 8 GB)

El coste de la acutalización sube a un poco más de 300 euros.

Manteniendo la tarjeta gráfica (es nueva, puesto que sólo tiene una semana), la fuente de alimentación y todas las unidades físicas.

¿Estaría bien esa nueva configuración? ¿vale la pena el cambio por ese coste?

Esa configuración no está mal, aunque esas memorias las evitaría directamente, el gran salto de calidad de cara al rendimiento y al futuro lo puedes dar con la siguiente actualización, cercana a los 400 €

Las placas gigabyte también están bastante bien, aunque las AsRock están a la orden del día en calidad/precio.
Para jugar yo me haria con un i7, que es lo que mejor te va a rendir, las memorias considero que las G.Skill Ripjaws son la mejor opción. Si quieres 8Gb también hay un pack superior:

Bien. Parece que finalmente mantendré el Core 2 Duo en activo y montaré un nuevo PC desde cero, debido a que mi pobre Pentium 4 Prescott está pediendo la jubilación y es muy probable que el disco duro de 500 MB vaya al Core 2 Duo. La configuración del nuevo PC será la siguiente.

CPU: i5 2500

Fuente de alimentación: aun no está decidida, pero seguramente una Corsair VX 550, una GS 600, o una TX650
Tarjeta gráfica: GTX 550
HDD: 1 TB

Aprovechando la tarjeta gráfica del Core 2 Duo, debido a que esa tarjeta será mucho mejor aprovechada en el nuevo i5 que no en el Core 2 Duo. Lo que no se es qué tarjeta gráfica pondré al Core 2 Duo, si bien este ordenador ya no lo usaré para jugar como hacía antes, sino básicamente para programar (de allí el por qué incrementé la RAM). Lo que sí es cierto es que no voy a colocar la 8400 GS de mi viejo Pentium 4.

El I 2500 K, no pilles el I 2500 a secas.

La fuente, las nuevas Corsair TX 650W son muy buenas.

Con 4 gigas vas sobrado para juegos, no veo necesario a día de hoy más si sólo es para juegos.

Tu gráfica tira con juegos actuales pero dependiendo de la resolución… si juegas a altas resoluciones, se te puede quedar corta. Y no tiene sentido gastar en un PC nuevo para jugar y mantener esa gráfica.

The power supply, the new Corsair TX 650W are very good.

With 4 gigs you have more than enough for games, I don't see the need today for more if it's just for gaming.

Your graphics card handles current games but depending on the resolution… if you play at high resolutions, it might not be enough for you. And it doesn't make sense to spend on a new PC to play and keep that graphics card.

I would go with the Corsair TX 650W

OK. But I'm not going to overclock it, because I don't like it.

The Core 2 Duo, fortunately for this computer, I was able to restore and repair its old graphics card, the 8800 GT, perfectly. It seems that the thermal paste had dried out and now that I have changed it, it cools down properly again. It escaped from taking an 8400 GS

Now I'm already installing the necessary programs (and games too) on my new machine.

Have you bought the 2500 and the Asus motherboard? If you're not going to do OC you don't need anything above an ASRock of 100€, you could even go to a cheap chipset of the new ones for less saving some money on the motherboard. It's also not a bad idea to save a few euros with the 2400, the price jump usually comes with the 2500.

Well. Finally the PC configuration has been set up as follows. The computer was assembled on Friday, with some small modifications because a GTX 460, a Corsair TX650 and an i5 2500K arrived.

Graphics card: ASUS ENGTX 460 1 GB DDR5
HDD: Seagate 1 TB SATA II
Power supply: Corsair TX650
Apart from the DVD burner and card reader.

And the second PC, the one that was previously my main PC.

Motherboard: ASUS P5B 965
RAM: Kingston 8 GB DDR2 800

HDD: Seagate 1 TB SATA II (Windows 7) + 250 GB SATA II (Windows XP)

Apart from the DVD burner and card reader.

It has been spared from having to put the 8400 GS from my old Pentium 4 Prescott :D.
