Help for connecting front audio to a P5B

Tengo una Asus P5B a secas. Hace poco he comprado una caja Coolemaster Elite 430 que lleva dos tomas frontales de audio creo, una color verde y otra roja. De estas tomas frontales sale un cable con dos terminaciones: una pone AC 97 y la otra HD Audio . En el manual de mi placa base hay un conector verde que pone "P5B Front Audio Connector", pero conecto el que pone Ac97 y cuando pongo unos auriculares en la toma frontal no pasa nada.
He visto que en la bios se puede cambiar ac97 por hd audio pero por defecto está seleccionado ac97.
El caso es que no sé que estoy haciendo mal. Tampoco se que diferencia hay entre la entrada verde (Ac97) y la roja(Hd Audio)
A ver si me pudierais orientar un poco

pues simplemente tienes que leerte el manual de la placa base , para saber que conector tienes ( por norma un ac97) conectar el correspondiente cable y listos , como mucho configuras en bios ac97 y en panel de control de el "ventanitas" configuras el micro y los cascos

Eso es lo que he hecho y no funciona, por eso pido ayuda.
El conector de la placa base admite los dos Ac97 y hd Audio, en la bios tengo seleccionado Ac97, y tengo conectado el terminal de la caja que pone Ac97 pero no funciona.

Lo probé tambien, y tampoco funcionó. Puede que sea problema de la placa o del cable, vete a saber, bueno tampoco me quita el sueño el tema, pero por si alguna vez me daba por conectarlo.
Mi anterior caja tambien tenia la entrada para auriculares frontal, pero nunca me preocupé en conectarlo.
Una pregunta el conector rojo/naranja que está junto al verde ¿Para que es?

Regarding the question, if it's an integrated sound card it's to include 5.1 or more (multiple speakers + subwoofer)
Regarding the front connector I suspect it's not directly connected internally to the motherboard, this often happens in many computers. It's all about opening it up and checking if all the cables of the front connectors are correctly and completely connected to the motherboard, including the audio ones.
